Description
Summary:The mission led by Monique Chatenet in Ethiopia from 11 to 22 February 2002 took place under the terms of the France–Unesco cultural agreement. It had a double objective: on the one hand a workshop on techniques of inventory work, and on the other hand proposals for actions aiming at developing the country’s national heritage inventory. Despite lack of means from the administration, generating fatalism amongst the department’s executives, what can be underlined here is the staff’s ability to become familiar with a different approaches to knowledge. Two experimental programmes are planned with the support of the EEC and the World Bank in Axoum for the architectural heritage and Lalibela for the movable religious heritage.
