Description
Summary:
Foundation: biosafety is important within hospital services to avoid potential risks of contamination that threaten the healthcare staff’s health.
Objective: evaluate the knowledge management level in biosafety regarding universality, protection barriers and elimination measures in health staff who works daily in Peruvian hospitals.
Methods: quantitative, prospective, cross-sectional study and comparative descriptive design carried out in 150 workers from two hospital centers in Chimbote (Peru) that belong to the public and private sectors. A biosafety questionnaire was used that was subjected to a validity and reliability psychometric analysis. Data analysis required descriptive and inferential statistics, with a reliability level of 95 %.
Results: in the descriptive analysis it was found that both hospital centers were at the average level, while in the inferential analysis there was a statistically significant difference.
Conclusions: the context where health staff work determines that the knowledge management about biosafety is different.
