| Summary: | This article aims to establish an analogy between operational time (ho nyn kairós) and the narrative element of the descriptive pause in María Gainza's Optic Nerve as an autofiction novel. Through close reading and a narratological analysis of this novel, it is demonstrated that the descriptive pause, together with anachronies, makes a re-distribution of time and places operational time on an equal footing with chronological time, which reveals the political dimension of autodiegetic narratives and their resistance to the productivity of contemporary discourses. |
