| Summary: | Since the 1980s, decentralization has turned the regions into major stakeholders in the port industry. Occitanie, born in 2016 from the merger of Midi-Pyrénées and Languedoc-Roussillon is an example of this changing power dynamic. Based on interviews with actors directly related to the port, this article shows the persistence of the Latin model, distinguished by dependence on the State. In a complex landscape with different authorities and administrators, the attempt at regional governance is also used for enhancing the region's political legitimacy. |
