Description
Summary:Crónica sentimental de la transición, by Manuel Vasquez Montalban, is characterized by its sustained ironical tonality and by its use of typical literary formal resources. Thanks to these two features, a sceptical or sarcastic outlook on the narrated events, incidents or attitudes is established. One episode, which could be intertextually entitled «Ana and the King», seems to suggest that the literary dimension of the text enables the author to eschew the obligations linked to the theme he addresses and to the environment in which he evolves, and makes for the expression of an implicit point of view which can subvert official historical narratives.
