| Summary: | This article deals with the information network linking the members of the House of Waldstein, a top aristocratic dynasty in the society of the early Modern Age. It focuses on the formation of an intelligence network within the Habsburg monarchy in the 17th and 18th centuries, while the special social position occupied by the Waldsteins enabled them to make use not only the publicly available resources (newspapers), but also a network of personal relations with agents in Central Europe’s key strategic spots.
