MINERALOGY IN SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS OF ORIGIN OF QUARTZITES OF THE KYSHTYM SEQUENCE, ILMENOGORSKY COMPLEX

The major and accessory minerals, which compose quartzitic layers in metamorphic sequences of the Ilmenogorsky complex, Southern Urals, are studied. Description
Summary:The major and accessory minerals, which compose quartzitic layers in metamorphic sequences of the Ilmenogorsky complex, Southern Urals, are studied. The relics of minerals of primary quartz and arkose sandstones, granitic, mafic, and ultramafic rocks, and, probably, evaporates, which provided the terrigenous material for quartzites, are found. Our data with microprobe analyses of minerals and photomicrographs of mineral relations contradict a widespread opinion that no relics of structures and textures of primary rocks remain in metamorphic rocks underwent epidote-amphibolite facies of metamorphism.
