Description
Summary:Between rural settings and royal portraits, social satires and nightmarish scenes, it is impossible to grasp the abundant work of a multi-faceted Goya in a single glance. Is this complexity only the result of the dual production that characterised his entire career: official paintings on the one hand, free works on the other? In reality, beyond this single explanation, Goya's life is marked by three major fractures, which largely explain the metamorphoses in his creation. This article will look back at these three major events that turned his artistic world upside down and show how each of them had irreversible repercussions on his paintings, engravings and drawings.
