| description | Zosteriform cutaneous metastasis (CM) is an infrequent form of skin metastasis and has a high chance of being misdiagnosed as herpes zoster. Here, we report a 55-year-old woman who had undergone modified radical mastectomy with adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy for carcinoma left breast with painful lesions over the left side of her chest and upper back in a zosteriform distribution. She was misdiagnosed and treated for herpes zoster elsewhere. On grounds of clinical suspicion, we did a skin biopsy and confirmed the diagnosis of zosteriform CM from invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. This case highlights the importance of considering CM in a patient with lesions of zosteriform distribution, as early diagnosis aids in preventing the delay in treatment of underlying malignancies. |
