Description
Summary:Tourism is vulnerable and very affine with its environment. Controversial circumstances jeopardize the image of the destination and impact tourism activity. The destinations are overwhelmed by many risks: natural, terrorist, cyclical, epidemiological, political, social, etc. Some situations remain remediable; others are sharper, such as natural disasters and wars. Staying resilient is the goal of any territory that has built its strategy around tourism. The destination of Morocco has suffered the effect of several turbulences and crises since the outbreak of the Gulf War (1991) to the present day, yet it has been able to resist absorbing shocks and continue its development. In this research, we wish intend to analyze the impact of the various shocks on tourism since 1991 to the present date, to evaluate the absorption capacity and to predict to what extent the measures taken by the stakeholders constitute factors of resilience. This analysis will mainly focus on the tourism sector in Morocco followed by particular focus on the destination of Marrakesh, tourism capital.
