Description
Summary:The article will examine the presentation of the relic containing the hair of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux, exhibited in her childhood home in Lisieux, Les Buissonnets, in the alcove of the bedroom. What of the saint can be seen there and above all how is meant to be seen? A strange subject, but one that allows some of the forms of devices and discourses involved in the process of the production of holy figures – and, more generally, of the sacred – to be explored. The objective of this research is to understand how the devices used to exhibit relics and the narration of the biographies of saints can produce both object and subject – souvenir, relic or saints – as well as thought, for example, of death.
