Summary: | In the context of the ongoing conflict in Sudan since April 2023, this article proposes to analyse the citadinities that have been constructed on the outskirts of Khartoum over the last two decades. Starting from the material and morphological transformations of the Sudanese capital, we propose to study the relationship of its inhabitants to housing and the city, at the intersection of the processes of production of the city from above (logic of development plans, construction of social housing, strategies of real estate companies...), the practices of the inhabitants (strategy of accession to the property, residential trajectories...) and popular claims. It is based on the convergence of two qualitative longitudinal surveys conducted between 2000 and 2022 on housing, land and building materials in Khartoum. |
