description | In 1940, when the battalion of Pèire Miremont (1901-1979) happened to be on the front line in the Vosges, this felibre from Perigord was taken as a prisoner by the Germans. He was sent from one oflag to another during his captivity and in Lübeck, he created l’escòla dels embarbelats, a « félibre » school of the internment camps where many « félibre » prisoners gathered to praise the Oc language and culture. Pèire Miremont put always time and efforts in his fight for the Oc language and for the « felibrige » movement. His abundant and varied literary works reckon more than 40 books of all kinds (poetry, prose writing, drama, linguistic studies on the Peiregord dialect, etc.). Half of them were written in the prisoner of war camps. |
