description X-rays are considered a fundamental part of any dental treatment. In endodontics, their purpose is to prevent and achieve the absence of disease by preserving the treated tooth. Conventional radiographs are commonly used to obtain the working length, but it is also noted that they have certain difficulties. Digital radiography has become a fundamental part of dentistry, especially in endodontics. The objective of the research was to describe the use of both types of radiographs in endodontic treatment. A review of articles, both in English and Spanish, published in important databases was carried out. Conventional radiography focuses on the technology and the process of capturing and developing images, which is quite effective in terms of definition, but is conditioned by chemical processes. Digital radiography, on the other hand, has largely replaced this technique due to its advantages in terms of efficiency, storage and distribution of images.
