Summary:We show that, beyond the characteristics of the Rio +20 Summit, there is a great continuity in the interpretation of sustainable development from that which has been put forward on at this occasion and that proposed by the Brundtland report. This vision is actually quite similar to that theorized by Schumpeter about the evolution of capitalism. This will result in the hope of a new cycle of economic development that relies on a new type of innovation, environmental innovation.
