| Summary: | The Musée d’Orsay holds an important collection of drawings by Jean-Louis Forain that have never been the object of a contemporary study. In 2011 a major retrospective of the artist’s work was held at the Petit Palais where Hélène Fernandez set out its main characteristics. This article, written as a continuation of that study, aims to give an overview of Forain’s graphic work, beyond his career as a press cartoonist. Combined with the accompanying catalogue raisonné, it offers both the public and specialists a new look at the collection of drawings from the graphic arts collection of the Musée d’Orsay, now in the Department of Prints and Drawing at the Musée du Louvre. |
