Description
Summary:The Cantabrians who emigrated to Cuba between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century became one of the main communities among the Spaniards on the island. In accordance with their power, they decided to create a magazine that would showcase their prominent social position and, at the same time, spread the news from their homeland. The result of this process was La Montaña, published in Havana between 1915 and 1954. The magazine allowed the montañeses to exert a great influence in the Province of Santander, and its Cuban character made it an exception. This paper analyses the development of La Montaña together with the main personalities who directed it or collaborated in it, as well as highlighting its propagandistic nature and the conservative ideology that accompanied its editorial line. The aim is to lay the foundations for future research that will allow us to delve deeper into the history of the publication and the study of its impact.
