description Modular tissue engineering has emerged as a promising manufacturing strategy for the regeneration of multifaceted cohesive tissues. Scaffold-free approaches combine different cells to form the complex architecture of tissues by assembling heterogeneous molecular building blocks. The objective of this research is to delve into the advances in neoteric modular tissue engineering strategies in regenerative dentistry. For this, a bibliographic review was carried out in the period between 2018 and 2022, in the databases: Scopus, Pubmed and Web of Science. Of the 557 articles initially obtained, 20 met the inclusion criteria. The cell sheet paradigm is beneficial in endodontic and periodontal applications. Human cell-based implantable devices have proven their effectiveness in terms of safety and affordability for a diverse range of clinical outcomes. Given the volatility of the efficacy and long-term safety of regenerative dentistry, financial models are needed to help facilitate patient access to these therapies. Impediments also arise during the manufacturing of cellular products and with approved regulatory establishments.
