Description
Summary:In studies on bibliometrics there is a tendency of famous scientists to obtain more credit than non-famous scientists, for similar works. The same applies to scientific journals, which gets more credit than other works of equivalent or even higher quality. This situation tends to perpetuate a structure of incentives and policies that end up concentrating the intellectual publication in a few journals, causing greater impact of their issues and changing the way people produce and disseminate science. In this paper is proposed a reflection on the process of qualifying the best journals in the field of social sciences for what is now known as indexing process, exploring the complex taxonomy on the subject.
