| description | Professor Jordan Naidoo is the former Executive Director of the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) and a leading scholar in the international education community. He believes that ESD, as a new orientation in the development of global education, has significant impact son governments, communities, private enter prises, schools, teachers and students in the environmental, economic and social spheres. Prof. Naidoo argues that the concept of global ESD originated from previous environmental issues and has evolved over time to become a hot topic for all parties. Using the image of the "three-legged stool", Prof. Naidoo pointed out that some of the key features of our times are now evident in the global concept of ESD. At the same time, he held that this change in philosophy is gradually being realized through the Roots and Shoots program, the Eco-Schools program, the international Young Reporters for the Environment and the Greening Education Partnership. Speaking of China's role in global ESD, Prof. Naidoo said that China has played an important role through various positive actions that have spread advanced concepts with Chinese wisdom, and that its contribution to the field cannot to be under estimated, with evident room for development. In the future, Prof. Naidoo believes that all parties need to further grasp the fit between international organizations and micro levels, and use more practical experiences to support the updating of concepts, as well as more precise concepts to guide future global ESD practices, in order to adapt to the higher demand for ESD in the future. |
