description | The notion of competence divides the scientific community of educational sciences. But whether to promote it or to reject it, John Dewey is regularly summoned but without returning with much precision on his very writings within the comments. The problem we want to address with this work is: what does the concept of skill really mean for John Dewey? Our hypothesis is that the John Dewey's most complete definition based on the implicit consequences of this notion on our author's general education project. We will first present three elements of defining this notion of skill in John Dewey's work: acting in situation, effectively and wisely. This in the aim to grasp in a short second part the notion of skill as a whole from a surprising example of our author: that of hunting Aborigines from Australia. |
