Summary: | The socialist press published in Spain from the end of the 19th century to the 1930s needs a renewal of its study. A renewal that must transcend the limits of the history of the labor movement and its organizations. The cultural magazines edited by the socialists of Madrid from the 1890s onwards lend themselves to a revealing reinterpretation from the perspective of intellectual history. Therefore, the objective of this article is to interpret the publication of the weekly Vida Socialista (1910-1914) as an unknown enterprise of the Generation of 1914. Hypothesis that we seek to validate through the analysis of its content and its collaborators. The magazine, directed by Tomás Álvarez Angulo and Juan A. Meliá, was also one of the main press organs of the PSOE during the period of the Republican Socialist Coalition. |
