This process, although predictable, can vary between infants, and is often accompanied by considerable symptomatology. <br /><strong>Objective:</strong> determine the symptoms of teething in children from 6 months to 3 years of age. <br /><strong>Method:</strong> a descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in a population of children from 6 months to 3 years old seen in the Pediatric Dentistry consultation in the Quevedo Parish of the Quevedo Canton between June 2022 and June 2023. The sample selected through non-sampling probabilistic was 108 patients. A semi-structured form was used to collect the information. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data by calculating absolute and relative percentage frequencies. Informed consent was obtained from the parents or caregivers of the babies participating in the study. <br /><strong>Results:</strong> a predominance of patients was found in the age range between 6 and 12 months (34.26 %), 100 % presented excessive salivation and 100 % presented biting of hands and objects. 77.7 % of those surveyed reported that infants preferred cold and soft foods. 33 patients had a temperature higher than 38ºC. 79 presented no changes and 12 presented acute diarrhea. 100 % of respondents had used at least one of the traditional variants. <br /><strong>Conclusions:</strong> several symptoms can be seen during teething, excessive salivation, biting of objects or the hand, sleep disorders and irritability are common, an aspect that coincides with popular beliefs. High adherence to popular belief treatments was determined. |
