Description
Summary:Although conventional root canal therapy is generally successful, it often faces challenges in preserving the tooth structure during access cavity preparation, particularly in cases of pulp canal obliteration, dental prostheses, and postrelated procedures. We examined the PriciGuide® and PriciPost® systems, novel patented guided endodontic innovations by Roots to Cusps® Private Limited (Bengaluru, India), which leverage cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data, computer-aided design, and three-dimensional (3D) printing to overcome these challenges. The systems use CBCT data and intraoral scans to establish the drilling direction for the tooth, resulting in a 3D-printed template with sleeveless guides. The system includes a guide rail attached to an air rotor. These guide rails pass through sleeveless guides, orienting the air rotor such that the bur moves in a predetermined direction to drill the tooth. These systems aim to revolutionize endodontics by making root canal treatments more predictable, efficient, and successful by enhancing the preservation of tooth structure through minimally invasive access cavities, increasing the fracture resistance of teeth posttreatment, accelerating treatment procedures, reducing chairside time, expanding versatility in addressing complex clinical cases, and minimizing iatrogenic errors. A recent study that compared the PriciGuide® system with conventional sleeve-based systems demonstrated significantly lower deviation in results in the PriciGuide® system. Published case reports validate the efficacy of both systems in negotiating calcified canals and performing prosthesis root canal treatments and minimally invasive access openings. Furthermore, these systems hold the potential for application in dental implantology, enabling precise, and efficient implant placement.
