description Since the beginning of the 20th century, landscape has entered the political arena and become the focus of decisions and actions engaged by state governments and local authorities. However, the inclusion of landscape in the political sphere is not self-evident. Its legitimacy can be questioned and a potential interference of landscape policies can arise. Our research rests on a theoretical reflection around the notion of political landscape and on the relevance of landscape in the emergence of a new type of territorial regulation. Through the analysis of territorial landscape policies in the Val de Loire area, particularly those concerning the Blois intercommunal authorities (France, 41), we address landscape through complementary approaches: the direction given to landscape by local stakeholders, the territorial scale of its integration and the interplay of networks of decision makers.
