| description | OBJETIVO: identificar, analisar e discutir estudos realizados acerca das necessidades de saúde do idoso a nível ambulatorial, identificando os conceitos das expressões: “saúde”, “doença”, “qualidade de vida”, “necessidades de saúde” e “processo”. METODOLOGIA: Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica realizada nas bases virtuais BIREME (BEDENF, LILACS, MEDLINE) e SCIELO. RESULTADOS: Foram levantadas 254 publicações sendo apenas 9 analisadas e discutidas. CONCLUSÃO: Pode-se concluir que apesar da existência de políticas públicas voltadas para a saúde do idoso ainda não se observam muitas equipes capacitadas para o acolhimento e tratamento desse grupo da população na prática da assistência ambulatorial. Deve-se então tentar buscar a integralidade da assistência através da capacitação profissional, da interdisciplinaridade e intersetorialidade e incentivar as práticas educativas junto ao idoso e seus familiares, sanando as dúvidas pertinentes e fazendo alusão à importância da preservação da autonomia e independência da pessoa idosa quando for possível.
