Description
Summary:Heterotopias. The Space between power and knowledge in Michel Foucault's Genealogical project Throughout his long and articulate philosophical research, Michel Foucault devoted few essays and a few interviews to the theme of space as a specific object of analysis. However, we can observe how Foucault's works are studded with meticulous descriptions of spaces: from the asylum to the prison, from the hospital to the city, ending with the body as a surface for inscribing power relations. To observe with attention, therefore, the problematic of space crosses much of the intellectual production of the French philosopher, who never, however, intended to develop it into the object of a theory. The aim of this essay is to attempt to frame the theme of space in Michel Foucault's research, through a recognition of some of the multiple theoretical places in which the problematic of space comes into question in the French philosopher's thought.
