Summary:To train the nursing professional learning theories must be adopted to facilitate their development, which combines theory and practice, useful in the actions deployment that lead to care as the object of this profession. The purpose of this work is to analyze the social and meaningful learning theories influence for the nursing professionals training. For this, a bibliographic review was carried out in Medline/PubMed, SciELO. Dialnet, BDENF. The information was synthesized for analysis. It was found that the theories of social learning and meaningful learning are perfect to be adopted in the nursing students’ preparation based on care, since they combine theory with practice, an aspect to be considered in their way of learning. The Nursing professional is trained to care, hence the importance of their preparation, through learning theories that allow the knowledge and skills acquisition that help strengthen their cognitive independence, and reduce trial and error, taking into account the social context and reinforce their caregiver role.
