Description
Summary:The post-Soviet period resulted in a degradation of public services, infrastructures and machines in Tajikistan. This deterioration has resulted among others in the marginalization of some regions such as Tajikistan's Badakhshan and in the emergence of socioeconomic difficulties leading to strong outmigration. Based on a long ethnographic study in the region, this article seeks to explore the way in which some types of Soviet machines, especially vehicles, burst into the lives of the residents of Tajikistan's Badakhshan, and the way in which their deterioration or absence has led to daily difficulties, territorial reconfigurations and new mobility strategies. To reflect on these questions, ethnographic and historical work on the region, studies on the post-Soviet transition and theoretical reflections on mobility and in particular around the concept of mobility justice are mobilized here.
