Description
Summary:Leiomyosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor that develops from smooth muscle connective tissue and most usually occurs in the uterus. The purpose of this study is to introduce a 24-year-old female with a massive leiomyosarcoma in her right proximal thigh. Clinically, the case has a swelling mass that has been enlarging across the right proximal thigh for the past 3 months. Upon examination, the thigh revealed a mass of 13 cm × 8 cm × 7 cm that was hard, noncompressible, nonmobile, and free of any erythematous changes. The liver, lung, or bone did not experience any metastases. The diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma was supported by the histology findings. The patient underwent a tumor-wide resection and was then sent to a medical oncologist for further adjuvant radiation. At the 1-year follow-up, the patient was still able to function normally, and there was no tumor spread or recurrence.
