| Summary: | Social networks have firmly entered the life of modern man, giving rise to not only new ways of communication and entertainment, but also new problematic issues in the field of law. So, to date, Russian legislation does not provide for the possibility of inheriting user accounts of social networks. Meanwhile, in practice, for a number of reasons, such a need already exists, and will only increase over time. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive consideration of the issue of inheritance of accounts in social networks and the possibility of filling the gap in domestic legislation. The article discusses the problems of the lack of a legal definition of the concept of “account” and the lack of the possibility of transferring accounts as part of an inheritance. The methodological basis of this research consists of general scientific, special, private law methods of scientific cognition. These include, in particular, analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison, comparative legal method, deduction. According to the results of the study, the authors come to the need to amend the current civil legislation of the Russian Federation.
