Description
Summary:This systematic review analyzes the literature studying the effects of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Financial Fair Play (FFP) on the financial health of European clubs. A Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) approach was utilised to conduct a systematic literature search of selected databases with a search range of 2012 to 2022. A previous bibliometric analysis allowed a mapping of the most relevant keywords. The content analysis revealed the characteristics of the sample; objectives, methodologies and theoretical frameworks used, main conclusions and research limitations. The results highlight the need to observe the capacity of the recent UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Regulations to cover the limitations of the previous regulations.
