Description
Summary:Abstract Background Gallbladder malignant tumors and ectopic liver tissue are a rare entity. We report a case of hepatocarcinoma in ectopic liver tissue in the gallbladder. Case presentation A 51-year-old female with acute cholecystitis symptoms was checked in from the emergency services. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed heterogeneous material inside the gallbladder with DWI restriction, arterial contrast enhancement and fast washout areas. A mass was suspected and cholecystectomy was performed. The pathology examination revealed a hepatocarcinoma in ectopic liver tissue at the gallbladder. Conclusions It is important to consider other diagnoses than cholecystitis or gallbladder adenocarcinoma when radiology findings are non-typical.
