Description
Summary:The slot fill foundation represents two or more slots which are cut in earth massif with their subsequent filling with concrete mixture. Walls of the top portion are united by foundation mat which is located above the earth surface or rests on it. When a load acts on such foundations a part of earth massif located between slots starts to operate. In contrast to foundations laid in open foundation pits the lateral surface of the slot fill foundations is included in work. This surface takes up part of vertical loading due to forces of friction that causes an increase of the conditional foundation width. While modeling bearing ability of the bases experimental investigations and theory of its limiting stressed state which was resolved by Sokolovsky V.V. and Berezantsev V.G. have been applied. All the equations have been solved with the help of numerical methods using a computer and specially developed program.Application of such foundations has shown that they are economically efficient, require less material and are characterized by large bearing ability.
