| Summary: | Objective To explore the relationship between depression and treatment side effects and marital quality in patients undergoing radiotherapy and or chemotherapy for cervical cancer, as well as the moderating role of neurotic personality and quality of life in this relationship, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention of and intervention in patients' depression. Methods The Patient-Reported Outcome Version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (PRO-CTCAE), the Functional Assessment of Cervical Cancer Therapy Scale (FACT-Cx), the 9-entry Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), the Big Five personality neuroticism subscale (NEO-FFIN), and the short version of the Marital Adjustment and Prediction Scale (Locke-Wallace) were used to conduct a cross-sectional survey of 1053 cervical cancer patients. Results Depression in cervical cancer patients treated with radiotherapy was significantly and positively correlated with treatment side-effects and neurotic personality (P<0. 01), and significantly and negatively correlated with marital relationship and quality of life (P<0. 01). Analysis of structural equation modelling indicated that the relationship between treatment side-effects and depression in patients treated with radiotherapy and or chemotherapy for cervical cancer was moderated by the role of neurotic personality and quality of life, and was not mediated by the role of marital relationship. Conclusion It is necessary to routinely screen cervical cancer patients for psychological problems, pay attention to the important influence of radiotherapy treatment side effects on depression, and carry out targeted preventive and curative measures according to the different levels of neurotic personality and quality of life, in order to prevent and treat depression in cervical cancer patients more effectively. |
