Description
Summary:This article focuses on the experience of cooperative housing in Uruguay, linking a materialist approach to housing with a critique of the capitalist mode of production. It examines this form of social production of housing as a public policy, as a movement for social transformation and as a process of individual subjectivation. After briefly presenting the model and outlining the current reality of cooperatives, the article turns to the question of social change. In an interview with Mr Pérez Sánchez, it examines the issues of operation and community life, and the limits of the model, and raises the question of the possibilities it opens up in terms of popular centrality.
