Description
Summary:This article aims to examine the role of the women "who stay" in the place of origin when other family members go on migration. Applied to a rural area of Nicaragua, the results show that these women have specific roles and activities in the absence of their husbands or children. These situations often lead them to develop forms of immobility or also forms of mobilities which are interesting to analyze in relation to other forms of mobility produced by family members. We propose a typology of these forms “of staying” while analyzing the realities of absence. The objective is to understand the terms of the presence of these families in this rural area.
