description Certain drawbacks of several of the conventional methods of analyzing Type I and II adsorption isotherms frequently used to characterize the structural properties of adsorbent materials have been demonstrated. A simple and flexible procedure, based on an equation combining the Dubinin equation to account for the micropore contribution and the BET equation to account for the non-porous contribution, has been proposed which is capable of simultaneously correlating the adsorption isotherm up to relative pressures of 0.4. Examples are presented showing that the suggested procedure provides a proper interpretation of the data coherent with the origin of the samples and avoids the misinterpretation that could arise from the application of the conventional methods.
