Summary: | <p><strong>Foundation:</strong> different studies establish that oral conditions, caries, gingivitis and periodontal diseases are a public health problem worldwide and in Ecuador.<br /><strong>Objective:</strong> to describe the most frequent oral conditions in the UNIANDES Dental Care Unit.<br /><strong>Methods:</strong> retrospective and cross-sectional study carried out at the UNIANDES Dental Care Clinic from April 2015 to August 2019. The medical records of 7,576 patients attended and aged between 20 and 96 years old were reviewed. The studied variables were: age, gender, oral conditions and procedures.<br /><strong>Results:</strong> 56.9 % of the patients belong to the female gender, the greatest number of dental cares occurred in young adults aged between 20 and 40 years old, dental caries was the most frequent oral pathology and simple restorations were stand out among the most frequently performed procedures.<br /><strong>Conclusions:</strong> it is necessary to work on the oral health promotion and prevention, to work in constant education will help not only to encourage patients, but will also reduce the high rate of these diseases.</p> |
