Summary:Impatiens monticola Hook.f. (Balsaminaceae) is reported here as a new record for the state of Assam, India. Flowers were dissected and a detailed description, photographic illustration and line-drawings are provided, along with an account and the revised key of Assamese species of Impatiens. The plant was found growing in the forest floor on the bank of streams in association with Begonia palmata D.Don, Begonia roxburghii A.DC., Molineria capitulata (Lour.) Herb., Angiopteris evecta (G.Forst.) Hoffm. Impatiens monticola is very similar to I. pulchra, but they can be distinguished with some specific characters, which are given in a tabular comparison.
