Description
Summary:[Objectives] To determine the effect of nursing intervention based on Rosenthal effect for colorectal cancer patients with permanent enterostomy. [Methods] One hundred patients with colorectal cancer receiving first-time permanent enterostomy hospitalized at the Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital of Capital Medical University between January 2021 and December 2021 were recruited and randomly assigned to the control group (n=50) and the treatment group (n=50). Patients in the control group received routine nursing, and those in the treatment group received routine nursing plus nursing intervention based on Rosenthal effect. The scores of the Chinese version of Stoma Acceptance Questionnaire (SAQ), Chinese version of Ostomy Adjustment Inventory-20 (OAI-20), and Chinese version of Social Impact Scale (SIS) were compared between the two groups before and after the nursing intervention. [Results] Before the intervention, the two groups did not differ significantly in all dimension scores and total score of the Chinese version of SAQ, QAI-20, and SIS (P>0.05). After the intervention, all dimension scores and total score of the Chinese version of SAQ and QAI-20 increased, and all dimension scores and total score of the Chinese version of SIS decreased in both groups. In addition, all dimension scores and total score of the Chinese version of SAQ and QAI-20 were significantly higher, and all dimension scores and total score of the Chinese version of SIS were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). [Conclusion] In patients with colorectal cancer receiving permanent enterostomy, routine nursing plus nursing intervention based on Rosenthal effect can improve the acceptance and psychosocial adaptation of enterostomy and reduce the stigma.
