description | This testimony situated at the crossroads of architecture and epistemology, two fields marked by male gender, shows how their intersection - the epistemology of architecture - is the place of expression of a particular and problematic masculinity. The production of scholarly discourses on architectural design appears to be at odds with expectations through non-scientific attitudes, biased by conquering, individualistic, invisibilising, rigidifying, singularizing attitudes... A situated and experience-based critique, following the reading frameworks of Sandra Harding and Donna Haraway, makes it possible to restore the meaning of these problematic linguistic behaviours. This article proposes to account for their coherence by identifying patterns of an epistemological masculinism. |
