Du muséum à l’église : la statue dans Bouvard et Pécuchet
The “statue” is essentially religious in Bouvard et Pécuchet (statue of St Peter in chapters IV and VIII, and statues of the Virgin in chapter IX). It is a comic motif, a sign of foolishness, but also an important moment of the characters’ family romance.
