| description | Based on the fieldwork data in Liennghia town by the author and documents on the Internet about the Zhuang and Hakka ethnic groups in South-East China, the author argues that the jar reburial custom practiced today by the Tay, Hoa, Nung, and Thai in Liennghia town, Ductrong district, Lamdong province, Vietnam is an inherited tradition from their old homeland in South-East China. When their ancestors emigrated to Quangninh province, Vietnam, and then to Lamdong province during the 1950s, they brought the jar reburial custom, which they still practice today, with them. This custom originated in pre-historic times and has been detected at many archeological sites in East Asia and South-East Asia, including sites of the Sa Huynh, Lung Leng, and Can Gio cultures. |
