description The national property of Chambord is a well-documented walled area. In this article, we present the methodology that we used to trace its dynamics from the XVIIth century to better understand the current landscapes. We first specify the key dates and the nature of the selected sources (the spatialized ones). Then these choices are confronted with the reality of the sources ; we thus see the limits of these ones (availability, reliability, relevance). To identify the dynamics, the analysis of the selected sources is based on a GIS, which has some implications too, and the main sources have to be enriched by some complementary sources. Thus, even for such a space, which is well-documented, the limits linked to the sources compel the knowledge of temporalities.
