Description
Summary:In a search for a definition of different research mode in landscape architecture, this article presents current reflections from a practice based research currently in progress. How can the landscape approach operate in the new metropolitan condition ? How extends its scope ? Can we respond to the challenge offered by impact of climate change ? Experimental, Reflective and critical Design practice. From garden to large scale strategy, projects and design studios as investigations, experiments, procedures are developed. ‘Topotypes’ explore operative territorial tactics and the condition of thickness as possible spectrum and tools for design intervention. RE-Search. Research as reflective practice acknowledges a critical evaluation of the explorative, experimental and speculative nature of design and leads to elaborate : Taxonomy of the different approach of landscape as urbanism. A territory of investigation (conceptual and geographical). A construction of specific design studio. A multidisciplinary approach. The outcomes of this research are on 3 levels : better knowledge of the landscape as urbanism (theory) investigation of tools of conceptualization/ representation and operational methods, strategies (practice and teaching).
