Description
Summary:The BAL is a cultural place in Paris dedicated to photography and, more widely, to the image. It organizes exhibitions, conferences and training workshops. A collaboration was planned with the BAL team to conduct observations in an educational workshop for teenagers. Three objectives guided the research: to understand the ways in which knowledge is circulated between young people and the educational team; capture the place of the camera as an educational technology in the learning process; to highlight the stages of the creation of a book representing the outcome of the workshop. As part of this research, I observed and documented the processes of learning to read and produce images, focusing on the interactions between participants. The research question focuses on the negotiations that take shape during the workshop between the educational team and the teenagers, the former tending towards ever more formalism while the latter seek autonomy and a more innovative spirit.
