Summary: | Productions carrying a controlled term of origin have to prove their specificities and their quality to respond to evolutions and requests of society. Stakes for networks are to find arguments to anchor the product in its territory and to give producers the possibility to participate in that production of landscape identity. That’s why we are studying relations between products and landscapes in a social and cultural way, and putting forward farmer’s representations of landscape linked with their production. For this, we use the notion of landscape in a systematic way, and take agricultural practices as a basis for discussion. We also created a toolbox based on graphical aids to help farmers in the expression of their point of view. In this contribution, we will first develop the stakes of the use of landscape to qualify products, then our theoretical point of view and reasons to focus on social and cultural dimensions. We will present finally some results obtained on three PDO cheese areas of production in central part of France, especially on relations between farmers and landscapes. |
