description In France as much as in many other European countries, job titles often contain English terms, especially when it comes to the business world. Through the computer-assisted linguistic analysis of an online job advertisement corpus, this paper aims to appraise the use of English in French job titles. Although some English loanwords have fully entered the French language, others are used redundantly with their French counterparts, most likely because of the affective, social and economic values associated with English on the linguistic market. When job titles are created using both languages, they follow specific and consistent morphosyntactic rules. Finally, although grammatical gender is less marked in English than in French, English is also used in the marking of parity (i.e., to indicate that a job is open to women as much as to men).
