Description
Summary:In the current context of environmental crisis, maintenance is increasingly seen as an alternative to innovation and progress, which are generally associated with growth and consumption. Numerous surveys confirm this potential, even going so far as to demonstrate its political significance. Aside from providing unprecedented empirical material, these surveys contribute to highlighting a range of less visible objects and practices. This paper adds to this set of case studies by focusing on the student housing of the Centres Régionaux des Oeuvres Universitaires (CROUS). In addition to providing insight into technical systems and work carried out by technicians, this action research examines the forms of technical mediation that could place housing upkeep, maintenance and repair activities back into the hands of those who live there.
